What is nuclear winter? Is there even a such thing?
In the Music video for Welcome tot he Black Parade by MCR, what city is in the background, or what is it supposed to be? It looks like a Russian city blown up by an atomic bomb. Has that ever happened?

Nuclear winter is a hypothetical global climate condition that is predicted to be a possible outcome of a large-scale nuclear war. It is thought that severely cold weather can be caused by detonating large numbers of nuclear weapons, especially over flammable targets such as cities, where large amounts of smoke and soot would be injected into the Earth's stratosphere. The term has also been applied to one of the after-effects of an asteroid impact or supervolcano eruption.

a bomb has hit Russia before. a nuclear winter should mean bombs going off in the winter. you answered uR own question in the third paragraph down. no survival, except for roaches-they are the only thing that would survive, which is pretty disguisting...

i'm not sure of the other ones, but a 'nuclear winter' is there result of huge amounts of particulate matter entering the atmosphere, this material blocks out sunlight and consequently the planet cools down. A similar thing happens in the aftermath of major volcanoes, although it's more the reflective properties of sulphur dioxide that cause most of the cooling rather than the comparatively weak contribution from other particulate matter.

Nuclear winter is the theoretical winter that will happen after global thermonuclear war happens.
Only Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan have been blown up by atomic bombs.

nuclear winter is where basically so much nuclear warfare that no life can survive on earth. I'm pretty sure a russian city was destroyed by a nuclear power plant melt down. no clue on the first question.

a nuclear winter is what would occur after a nuclear blast... there would be a nuclear winter where nothing electronic could work ... that's the only question I can answer
