Are we winning the war in Iraq or are we being deceived by President Bush

If you read a recent statement by Barry McCaffrey, a retired Army general who works as a consultant and makes frequent trips to Iraq, returned in mid-December from a week-long trip to Iraq and Kuwait. He was critical of the execution of the war under Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld but sees positive signs now, despite strains on the force. He has repeatedly called for a larger Army, which he says should be 800,000-strong.

The Army is expected to grow to 547,000 soldiers by 2010, and Casey has left the door open for an even bigger increase beyond that.

So, has the war in Iraq ended as the Neocons have been saying, here, in this forum?

Has the Iraq War ended as President Bush has claimed, with the entry of US troops and the pulling down of Saddam's forces, in 2003?

Lastly, if any Democrat or Republican is elected, will they continue Bush's policies and war or will they end this illegal and unnecessary war?

My statement and my company's statement: This war is an illegal and unnecessary war from the very beginning and there have been people trying to rectify this matter by ending the Iraq War. The same thing was said about the Vietnam War. Our government after many years, refused to pull out of Vietnam and said that if we pulled out the entire continent of Asia will fall to communism. After we pulled out, that did not happen and the Asian continent was at peace.

The same applies to Iraq. With a complete withdrawal of all US troops and the restoration of order by the Iraqi people without US interference, Iraq will be at peace once again.

Every political candidate, without exception, whether Democrat or Republican, except Ron Paul, favors

the continuation of the Iraq War! If elected, though they say that they are against the Iraq War, they intend to continue it. Everyone will continue this war except Ron Paul.

This war is illegal, as only Congress has the power to declare war on another nation. Approval for this war was never given by Congress. President Bush Senior got Congress to approve of funding only and proceeded with the war.

Saddam agreed to withdraw from Kuwait (1990) and the Bush refused to allow Saddam to withdraw. We know because we were the original US-Iraq negotiators did laid the foundation for this agreement, which was subsequently accepted by Saddam himself.

This occurred during a time, when the Bush administration was saying that all they wanted was for Saddam to get out of Kuwait. Well, we secured that and Saddam agreed. It was the Bush administration that had lied!

We sent out over 800 press releases to US radio and television stations, US newspapers, and major media networks, yet no one

published this story. This is the story of the century! Was this a government conspiracy and cover up? Exactly what happened and why wasn't this reported in the media?

The firm that I work for is certainly credible and we did have a working relation with other nations in the Middle East and in Asia, up until the end of 1990.

Our nation (government) had, also, maligned Saddam's reputation and lied about his government's actions in putting down (CIA planned and inspired) rebellions in his nation. Such things are, again, illegal!

Saddam's name and reputation was maligned!

If you look into unbiased journals, honest and upright journals, they speak very well of him as a capable and righteous leader. I am speaking of people who were upright and unbias, who were doing independent research on Iraq. People who were not working for our government and had nothing to gain from siding with our government from the time of the Reagan era to the time of Saddam's invasion. Things changed

after August 2, 1990 and journals from that time on reflected the Bush doctrine. US Congressmen, in the past as well as today, have based their assessment of the Iraq War on flawed and faulty information.

So, with the demise of our current President, the next President, whether he or she is a Democrat or Republican, with the exception of Ron Paul, will CONTINUE this war. A war which is not only illegal, but murderous!

What then is the solution?

And does anyone, any member of Congress or any current Presidential candidate, want to hear the solution? Do you and does it matter?

COMMENTS:

notadummyrat, when Bush pursued an illegal war with Iraq, Democrats protested and many said that they would rectify or over turn an unpopular and illegal war. Prior to that the President was popular and the Democrats lost power in congress for allowing this war to occur. When they regained power in Congress, they did nothing, so people, some people, got disgusted and sided with Bush with handling of this awful war! Democracts were do nothings that did not fulfill their promise!

a_wood80, it is an illegal war with no basis. Do not be deceived. The Iraq War that occurred in 1991 did not have Congress's approval. Only the financing was approved. Saddam had agreed to the withdrawal, even if he was under no obligation to do so. Saddam's incursion into Kuwait has merit and was within the laws. Please do not argue this point as it will be explained by the media later as to why it was legal (permissible) for Saddam. The second Iraq War was again

illegal as the Bush administration created facts fraudulently in an effort to cover up past violations of the US Constitution.

HITMAN CAINE, Bush's fault was not that he poorly planned and what is needed is better planning and a stronger military, but he didn't want to do more than he was doing because what he was already doing was murderous and illegal! You don't go out and kill people for nothing, which was what we were doing in Iraq!

Locutus1of1, the last time you posted, you claimed to be a government spy and working for the President. Most people here would look to you saying that as if you are a nut. I know better and will expose your cover, whatever that is because of your continual badgering and say nothing remarks. You are NOT worth anyone's time!

OhhReally, the war and the fighting has been ongoing and so just saying that it has ended doesn't mean that it has ended. One would reasonably say that Bush lies by saying that the war has ended. No, it hasn't!

Robert B, you make good points here. Most certainly so!

seniorchiefretired, you are not worth my time and you are no more than a nutcase! I am not a Jane Fonda fan and she is being misused by many. During the Vietnam War, we supported the US military loyally, but with quiet and open reservations. I built a good following from the Vietnam War era, you would likely do best by not challenging me here. I do and have read Congressional reports, but I am a first-hand autority source actively working in the field, so reports should have been crafted around findings like what I produced. There are times, when US intelligence is outright wrong and a good President should be wise to this, especially if some of his people are saying so! Bush is not so wise! You are a fool to try debunk these public postings. One might ask don't you have anything better to do with your time? Lastly, because you are a military man and so am I ranked higher than you, I would say try to be calm and to be rational.

Stick with the truth and if this is America's path, you will see a better nation and a prouder military. This is one of the things that I am working for!

Ahcho A, Saddam is dead, but the war still goes on!

gmanstan, our government is like a blind and raging bull. It doesn't care about justice, nor who it kills. Should the American people care about John-John or his father. Should we care about those who have laid down their lives so loyally and honorably for our nation? If you enter a war on illegal grounds, then you owe someone reparations for damages done. If you decide not to do that and continue to fight an illegal war, even if you win an illegal war it was lost based on honest grounds and based on the many innocent lives lost!

We are not winning the war.

There is no victory in Iraq until we have a centralized government in place that represents the Sunnis, Shiites, and Kurds.

We are no closer to this then the day we invaded.

Until this happens in Iraq, there is no victory, only further bloodshed of our troops and another 12 billion flushed down the drain each month.

That the media and Bush administration still calls what is going on in Iraq a war is ridiculous. It's an occupation, and a very poorly executed one - But if it were a war, we would not be winning it, nor could we ever win it. Every increase in troops, such as the "Surge" we mandate, will be met with an increase in insurgents. The media is crap, and all those who believe it are fools. Do your own research and it is easy to see that all we are doing in Iraq is very slowly shooting ourselves in the foot - And raising the probability that Al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations will continue to grow in size and strength. The result of this occupation will be increased terrorist attacks in the future. It does not take a genius to realize this, but unfortunately, many people have no clue.

I don't know if you are but America and Iraq are. The threat from the Middle East has steadily been growing with each year of diplomacy. In every country mid-East Muslims go to they cause strife. The only reason they do not here is because there are not enough of them. Islam has declared war on the Western civilizations and only fools turn their back on an armed enemy.

What is the name of the company you work for? Each post you mention it,,, What is the name. I am very interested to know.

The war in iraq will end after the US military leaves and will not end sooner.

The religious extremists will claim victory regardless of Iraqs ultimate outcome - because they are religious freaks and live in a dream world.

Yes, but it's not a war.

I won't argue the necessity, but it certainly isn't illegal. You're evidently in the crowd that doesn't know what illegal means.
