The reason could be that your either worried that whatever you read may end up in your own work, or that you might find out that your not as original as you thought you were.

If you want to write a poopload of GOOD fiction, you'd better start reading more fiction.
I guarantee you that as much fun as you may be having, you're not turning out quality work if you aren't familiar with fiction and its various conventions, cliches, and pitfalls. If you're serious about your writing, start reading it.

My problem is the opposite, i read way too much to write anything. I guess it's because you're preocupied with your own story to focus on reading others. Try reading something similar to the stories youre writing.

Maybe you're just picking the wrong books? Have you tried the classics, and the really prominent stuff?
