one on christmas eve, the rest on christmas morning, anything that comes in the mail from other people, i open it right away, unless my husband doesn't let me ;p but it really doesn't matter. try to find a compromise that feels good for both of you. open them after midnight - then it's christmas eve AND christmas.

My husband believes no more than one gift should be opened on Christmas Eve, with the others being opened on Christmas morning. Since it's just the two of us, and since he likes to sleep in, and I am an early riser, I want to open all of the gifts tonight so he can sleep in to his heart's content in the morning ... but we'll probably open only one gift, and I'll get him up if he's not up by 8 (I got him up at 7 today, but we had to have an early blood test done downtown) and open the rest. I know that what I want for Christmas is wrapped and waiting, though, and the gifts I really want to open tonight are the new button up robe, the nightgown, and the slippers ... which I intend to wear ALL DAY tomorrow. He doesn't know it, but I made him a set of 'World of Warcraft' pajamas ... a tee shirt and zipper hoodie and some grey/black pants, and that is the gift I want him to open tonight, because after we are done opening the gifts and having breakfast (cinnamon rolls, already made, so we just have to heat them) we are going to play WoW all day ... we are 57 and 50, by the way, and not kids ... and we do have family, but always choose to be alone on Christmas so they can be with their other family members ... and we have a BEAUTIFUL Christmas planned ... actually including this 'debate' on when to open our gifts ...

Well I'm hispanic, generally speaking, most hispanics celebrate Christmas on the night of Christmas Eve. Everyone stays up late and has fun until midnight. At midnigh, which is now Christmas Day, all the children are allowed to open their gifts. Everyone generally stays up for a few more hours then the majority of people then goes home.

None on Christmas eve, Santa delivers them then.
When we were young we got a couple each in the morning.
Santa's and something special from family.
The big opening was after dinner in the afternoon. We were 10 when we were young and grew to 25 to 30 when adults.
Our parents died 10 years ago and now each family has their own Christmas, we open in the afternoon. Stockings in the morning and Presents later.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL.
