It was a late payment that should have come with %. That's a mean and nasty person.

It is not a gift but payment of a debt. You did get cheated out of a gift. I would not have been angry, I'd figure that at least I got the money back they owed me.

Would you rather they had not paid you? Don't look a "gift horse" in the mouth. At least you ended up without a loss...be thankful for that alone! You got a gift that many people never receive, which is...a decent return on your original investment! Hopefully you learned a little something about human nature from this episode in your life.
Btw, I think the gift just wasn't up to your standards or expectations & perhaps that is why you got angry & hurt over this incident. I have had similar experiences in my own life & I learned from them.

My niece still owes me $300 from over 2 years ago. If I communicate with her, she usually asks for money (which now I "don't have"). I've pretty much stopped contacting her except for an occasional card. If she sent me a gift of $300 (or any part of it), I'd be thrilled.
Although it's not really a "gift", you should probably be glad you got it back.

It was given as a gift, (though it was owed to you.)
Now, it's time to take a lesson from the past and
stop lending money to people that don't appreciate
you.
To answer your question, I would think very little of them.

In my opinion it's a bad taste to give someone money they owe to as a Christmas gift.

You are absolutely right! If it's owed to you, it's hardly a gift. Don't tell me-they thought you should be grateful for the "gift"?

The money that they returned to you was not the gift that they gave you.
The gift that they gave you was the lesson that not everybody is as "Sweet" as you!
Be careful who you choose to be your friends - and even more careful when lending them money - the two do not mix well!
Merry Christmas!

Talk about killing two birds with one stone. The person repaid a debt and made it look like a gift.

I don't think I would consider it a gift. At least you got the money back though. Be grateful for that.. I guess.

a miracle! Most people never get loaned money returned to them. Forget the gift aspect and just be glad you got your money back.
