I want to attend Holy Trinity Diocesan High School next school year. What can I do to convince my parents to send me? Money is no problem whatsoever. But, what makes Holy Trinity better than Hicksville High School? I tried searching for grades and the experience of teachers; but I can not find anything. Could you help me?

check if the prvt high-school you want to attend has ever earned any badges of merit in education from the federal or state govts. i know factually that such awards are given to top top achieving schools. my children went to one such school. i don't recall what the honoraries were called but i'm sure they have them. if awarded such a recognition, the private school gets a grant from either the federal govt and/or the state depending on where they are located.

if this the case with your desired high-school, i would then utilize that fact as a lever to convince your parents. i know, if money is no barrier, that i would enroll my child there if that is the case. i would think that any parent would too.

good luck.

Some 30 plus years ago I attended a very small boys, later girls were allowed, private school on scholarship. I had to work on Saturdays for about 3 hours doing things, and occasionally during the school day.
In the jr.high years I know I got a better ed., in the high school years I think it was adequate. Upon graduation and going to college I vowed never to send my children to a private school. Later in life I realized that was wrong though I never considered private for my children.

Reasons to attend private...hopefully very small sized classes, so one will get more than adequate attention, if you need it to catch up or for added work if you excell at a subject. The attention can help get you into possibly a college you thought too tough for you whatever your academic standing.

Abitlity to take part in more academic/atheltic events:
I was able to play on the baseball and soccer teams as there was not alot of competition, and you were expected to play. Big high school atheletic teams will probably not be allowing the avg. or just above avg. person play. This can hold true for all sorts of other academic clubs/events that a school might put on.

Ask the school for the academic background of the teachers, to see if those at the private school have more advanced degrees than at your public school. Good luck.

Make a bargain with them.
You will have a 4.0, or whatever you can manage that exceeds what you have gotten so far for grades, for the first year if you are allowed to attend the school you want.

I just looked at the other responses. Some of these answers are hilarious. I like the one that suggests you tell your parents you want to "walk with Jesus".

This happened to my niece. I think the whole extended family got on my brother's back to let his kid go to the Catholic school. It worked. He caved in.

Get a report of crimes at the private school vs the public.
Also ge tthe average assessment tests at both schools and SAT's at both schools.
Take a look at the extra curricular activities available and maybe see why they prefer you at a public school.
If they have reasons for a public school then maybe the private can match or beat it and they just know it.

Also-money might be the reason, you just don't know their money situation.

Wow!
I wish I had that problem when I was in school.
I spent all of Elementary school in private schools, then when we moved to England they sent me to English schools instead of the American one, when we came back to America I had to beg and plead for them to let me go to a public high school. They let me when they bought a house in the JB school district, which is the second ranked public school in the state. If it wasn't for that I would've graduated with a class of 12 at the Christian Academy.

There are lots of statistics that you can find that will prove that private high schools prepare students better for college than public high schools do.

This website below will show why private schools are better. (click on the 'the truth about boarding school' link - it compares boarding school, private day school, and public school in various areas).

very easy, say there is a boy at that high school and you are so looking forward to going there because you hear the teachers really don't care what you do during lunch and you and your boyfriend will have plenty of "alone" time. You might also want to add comments like, you know that Jamie Lynn Spears, I really respect her. or you know having a baby when you are young sounds like a good idea!

I guarantee they will won't want you to go to that school anymore! ;)

Have you spoken with them about it already? They may be for the idea 100% to begin with.. just tell them the truth that you think you would get a better education overall from the private school.
Good Luck!

You should maybe try calling them. Tell them that you're interested in attending their school, and ask them to send you some information for you and your parents proving that it is a good school... better than a public school. I'm sure they would be willing to do that.

What's your reason for wanting to go? If you don't have a good reason like academics and such, stress how bad the cliques and gangs (?) and bullies are at public schools. Or else, get all religious all of a sudden.
