If it is like the bumper on a Dodge Intrepid here is an easy fix.

Use a ordinary hair dryer on the dent area for about 10 minutes. After it is hot, the dent will push out from behind using a piece of wood.
Be careful not to push to hard, just work it out.

My body shop guy told me this and to do it myself
It worked great can't even see where it was
I didn't have to remove anything
this was the front bumper and a big, long dent

Most regular bodyshops will usually charge a couple hours of labor to fix the damage plus removal and repainting...usually 4-500.00 all together. Get estimates from 3 or 4 shops on what they will charge.
Another cheaper option is a company called BumperMedic.com if they have reps in your area.
