Ignoring the steroids issue for a second, here's who would make it in if they retired today:

Roger Clemens
Greg Maddux
Randy Johnson
Tom Glavine
Pedro Martinez
Trevor Hoffman
Mariano Rivera
Barry Bonds
Ken Griffey Jr.
Alex Rodriguez
Frank Thomas
Manny Ramirez
Jim Thome
Mike Piazza
Gary Sheffield
Chipper Jones
Derek Jeter
Todd Helton
Ivan Rodriguez

I know I saw David Ortiz listed at least once, but that's being pretty optimistic. He barely has 1,200 hits and less than 300 homers - he needs more than that. I didn't include Vlad Guerrero, but he's pretty close right now.

I think the players that automatically come to mind would be Schilling, Clemens, Glavine, Maddux, Griffey and possibly Hoffman. The latter being a wild card really. I doubt he will enter his first year of eligibility but then again the writers do surprise you.

IF Barry Bonds or Roger Clemens are PROVED clean then both of them would go, but other than that Greg Maddux would be my #1 vote right now, he is underrated, he has 7 less wins than Roger Clemens and has given up 100 less ER than Clemens so Greg Maddux would be my guy.
