I didn't sleep very well last night because my tummy kept cramping up and I had awful lower back pain...I think my tummy did stay a little tight too.... (can't totally remember). Also before I went to bed last night I bent over to pick something up and I got this horrible shooting pain "down there"....I have been having these pains anyway...but this one really was uncomfortable... Also I have been getting shooting pains in my bottom (rectal area - I know, TMI , sorry )...is this normal?

Do you think it is just because I have overdone myself with the holiday and all, ? I haven't been napping and putting my feet up like I should because I have had so much to get done.... I feel fine today.... has this happened to you?

I see my midwife Thursday...so I will still ask her all of these questions too. I was just wondering if maybe the baby is going to...

I'm 38 weeks pregnant, and I get cramps in my lower back as well. They feel just like period cramps. My abs will tighten up sometimes or I'll get slight pain in my tummy, but thats about it. I've been experiencing this for a few weeks now, and no sign of labor coming. Its just your body getting ready. Some people take longer than others. The shooting pain you describe is normal as well. I get that a lot, my doctor said its caused from the baby's head pushing on the cervix, nothing to be concerned about. Just take it easy and you'll be okay.

I have thoughs shooting pains to and have had them throughout this whole pregnancy and they are uncomfortable but normal.I think your baby is getting ready to come out because my friends stomach did the same thing and it was braxton hicks but her baby was also dropping.
