hey everyone, My hubby and I are going to visit family for the holidays, but its a 6 hour car ride away. I will be 30 weeks pregnant when we go on this trip(next weekend lol) What should I pack for the car trip(not in my suitcase for the vacation, but stuff to make the car ride more comfy) we are obviously leaving extra early to make sure we have enough time to get there, since we will have to make a lot of restroom stops. But does anyone have any advice to help make this 6 hour car ride more comfy? thanks a lot! happy holidays!!!

I traveled at 28 weeks pregnant, 1cm Dilated in a car ( SUV to be technical) for 14 hours non stop, with the exception of stopping to pee and eat and gas. 2 times in one month. Not fun although I did much better than I thought

DO

Bring your hospital suit case just incase
Know were hopitals are located on your rute and around your desitnation
Bring your birth plan and any other papers
Bring lots to eat and drink!!!
Pillow and blanket to make it somewhat more comfy to sleep
Something to read/do
wear COMFY clothing and shoes...I wore PJ's and slippers
DO drive the most roomy/comfortable vehicle you guys own
Dont Drive unless you HAVE to. May seem unfair to your husband but why stress your self when you don't have to.

Thats basicaly all I did and It wasn't that bad...I mean it sucked we had to stop so much to pee but I actually throughly enjoyed the ride and getting out of the house

I went on a plane from Georgia back home to Vegas at 25.5 weeks and it was a combined 5 and a half hour trip, 8 with a layover. At 34 weeks I'm going again. Riding in a car isn't very different, if anything it'll be better because you can always stop and get food, water, or go pee. So long as your doctor knows and doesn't see you needing to stay home then it'll be fine. Just make sure you get out every couple of hours to stretch your legs and don't hold your bladder. Make sure you see your doctor a week or so before hand because things can change in a month, but 6 hours is nothing.

Oh no! You poor thing!

I'm at 31 weeks now and I can't imagine sitting in a car for 6 hours!

My advice:
Take extra pillows so you can make yourself comfy. When you take a restroom break, walk around for at least 15 minutes on each break. Bring plenty of snacks, ones that don't upset your stomach.

Good luck to you!!

I just did it over Thanksgiving, and I was around 30 weeks then. I just took extra pillows, so I could switch positions in the car. A laptop, and FOOD. Lots of snacks.

I sat on a pillow, wiggled around alot, and stretched when we stopped. It also helped having a DVD player to take your mind of the long trip(ours was 9 hours) It might also help to have good snacky food so your not tempted to eat fast food.
Hope this helps and have a great trip:)

Just remember to stop and move you legs periodically so you do not end up with blood clots. When you are pregnant your body has extra blood in it due to the baby, and you are at a higher risk for blood clots than if you were not pregnant, good luck and have fun with the family ! merry christmas

I would take an extra set of pants. A couple of books to read and some pads just in case of a leak.
