I mean people are fanatical about him. I know he cheated on both of his wives, made controversial statements, criticized his bandmates repeatedly, did drugs etc. Is it just because he wrote "Imagine". Good song but not worth worshipping him over! Maybe there's some heroic stuff I don't know about him, but I'm not sure why people worship him so?

He was for peace, man and wrote a bunch of good songs with the Beatles. I'm not a particular fan, but I'm cool with the people that admire him. He was unjustly gunned down.

Because he was very talented and was shot down in his prime...? And he was a Beatle, and the Beatles are one of the most influential musical groups ever.

you mean OTHER than the fact that he was in the BIGGEST grossing band, and still is one of the top $$$ sellers year after year.... and this is from a band that stopped recording in early 70's. (too bad McCartney doesnt own the rights to the Beatles, i cannot in good faith give my money to the jack-a** Michael Jack(a**)son).

John Lennon's legacy on PEACE has stimulated, cultivated, and otherwise shaped and molded many of great minds today. He single-handedly stirred a planet and got others to think globally. IMAGINE where we would be today if he was not alive. Makes grown men cry.

What he spoke on was uncomparable to his music, music was secondary to global peace and his determination to acheive it.
