It's not the Hall of Mediocrity it's called the Hall of Fame, he'll never get in.

Edmonds will be remembered as a very good player, but I doubt he'll make it to Cooperstown. He's got some decent counting stats and several Gold Gloves, but he's never been a truly dominant player. He never won a batting title, an MVP award, or led the league in any statistical category offensively. He's finished as high as fifth once in homers, but is noticably absent on top-10 lists each season.

If you look at Edmonds' closest comps, they're guys like Dick Allen, Fred Lynn, Jason Giambi and Shawn Green - all good players in their own right, but by no means worthy of Hall enshrinement. I think the same feat awaits Edmonds. He was a good player for many years, but not good enough for the Hall of Fame.

Everyone is counting him as retired already.
Right now, they would probably be right. Even though he is on more plays of the week videos than any other outfielder of his day, as long as Dewey Evans isn't in the hall, Edmonds' career RIGHT NOW would not qualify him. BUT -- he's still playing. Just what if he has 3 or 4 more good years? He'd then be approaching 500 HRs and have about 250 more hightlight videos to his credit. Then maybe. . .

If Jim Edmonds goes to the Hall of Fame, I will personally go to Cooperstown and burn it. That would be a joke.

When the veterans committee voted in Bill Mazeroski (a one dimensional player), I don't see how they can keep out a player like Edmonds. He plays great defense and is a decent hitter. He's in my top five all time of best defensive center fielders. He would get my vote. He'd probably wear a Cardinal cap because he won a ring playing for them.

edit- I just noticed your screen name...still think he belongs.

He won't be in there. My god, how much do you people want to water down the Hall?

Yes he was a very excellent fielder who out of 4000(rounding) had only around 50 errors, and he was a very good hitter, 362, good batting avergae and was a good all around player, so i would put him on the ballot.
