The bill was for $45,000.00. My insurance company paid approximately $43,000.00. Then the hospital sent me a bill for the difference. Isn't there some kind of law stating that they can't do that??

I am located in NYC, if that matters.

Thanks

Don't pay and you will find out. I assume you daughter is an age where you are responsible, so you you will pay or they will be seeing you in court, then you will pay.

Well I do believe that it is your responsibility to pay the remainings of the bill. You are very lucky that you didn't have to pay the $43,000.000 part rather than the $2,000.00. If you can't pay the remaining of the bill then try snd see if you can pay it in portions so it will be easier for you. Make an arrangement that you and the hospital will on agree on.

This isn't Canada. Of course you have to pay what the insurance doesn't cover. How else would the doctor get his next Ferarri? Unless she is over 18. If she's over 18, then the bill is hers. You'll have bad credit if you don't pay.

Why wouldn't you be responsible for the balance? I'm pretty sure you're responsible for the rest of the bill.

If you're going to have trouble, speak tot he hospital billing department, they're usually good about helping you create a payment plan or if you're financially incapable of paying, reducing the amount.

You are responsible but you can go to the hospital and negotiate for a lower amount and work out a payment schedule that you can afford. If you ignore it, they will sue you and you will lose. I've been there....

Yeap, that's usually how it works. You can call the hospital and try to make some arrangements.
