Its for the dock adaptor for your ipod touch, if you have a universal usb dock stand, thats the adaptor you click into it so its a perfect for the dock.
It will have a number in grey on the back of it saying 14. Like this,

That is a dock adapter. If you buy the Apple Universal Dock, you put this in there and it makes the dock fit the specific iPod. I have an iPod Touch and I think it is number 14.
