The famous "blind seer" is Tiresias from Greek mythology.
The ancient Greeks believed seers could interpret the will of the gods and the prophecy the future through the reading of signs and the use of necromancy (summoning ghosts).
A seer is not the same as a modern fortune teller. Ancient seers learned the art as a craft from a master. The rules of reading signs were very complex and set by hundreds of years of tradition. Mostly it involved interpreting the flights and appearances of birds, and interpreting signs at sacrifices, and necromancy.
In myth Tiresias' daughter Manto told him what she saw, and he interpreted the signs.

A "seer" is one who sees with the mind's eye, not his/her own.
But if the seer also was a spirit guide, a midget, and a jail escapee, would the headlines read "Small Medium at Large" ?
