If it wasn't boiling hot, I'd say give it time - that's all you've got at this point. Depending on what plant it is, it may use a good one hour soak in lukewarm water to help keep the plant from wilting. The roots have obviously been shocked and hopefully not burned, so they're probably not doing a great job of absorbing water. The only option would be to let the plant take in some water through its leaves by soaking it in lukewarm, not cold water for an hour or 2. I wouldn't recommend shocking the plant any further by giving it potentially harmful chemicals such as fertilizers that could do more damage by burning the already shocked root system. Leave it alone, keep it warm and mist daily, out of direct sunlight, and hope for the best. If it doesn't perk up within the next 10 days and continues to wilt, I'd say it's a lost cause.
Good luck!

You burned the root hairs which are responsible for water uptake. So wait it out, if the plant was healthy, it will form new ones in a few days. Don't keep the plant soggy wet though, just normal barely moist will be fine.

Keep it evenly moist, but not wet. Don't let it dry out - just as you wouldn't want burned skin to dry out, so you shouldn't let the roots dry out, as they are undoubtedly doing their best to produce new root hairs to replace the ones that were killed. DON'T feed it until you see it perk back up again; that may take a month or so, so be patient.
If it's a plant from which you can take a cutting, do so, just to be on the safe side. That way, if the parent plant croaks, you'll have a "baby" to replace it.
Good luck!

Pretty much wait it out now, although you might mix a very mild solution of root hormone to stimulate new growth and help the plant out of shock mode.

Yes, hun, just leave it alone. It is now a wait and see situation.
