1/6 + 2/3 +1/4
Find the common demoninator
so in this case it would be 12
1/6 *2/2 + 2/3 *4/4 + 1/4 * 3/3
2/12 + 8/12 +3/12 = 13/12, or 1 and 1/12 so the answer is "A".

D. the LCM of 6, 3 and 4 is 12. SO...1/6 = 2/12 2/3 = 8/12 and 1/4 = 3/12. Add them up and you have 13/12 which is 1 1/12

Okay, you've got a few people giving you the answer.
Here's the real trick... I'll tell you how to do it.
You need to find a common denominator (bottom number) for all three fractions to add them together.
Your three denominators are 6, 3, and 4. All of those go into 12, so 12 is your common denominator.
Now, you make each fraction have a denominator of 12. First, 1/6. Think of 1/6 as being a piece of a pie (or pizza, or whatever) that has been cut into 6 pieces. You want a pie that has been cut into 12 pieces, so each piece will be half the size it currently is, but you still have just as much pie. If you cut one sixth of a pizza in half, you have two pieces that are each one twelfth of the pizza.
So for 2/3, you have a pizza cut into thirds. You want a pizza cut into twelfths. You know that three times four is twelve, so each of those pieces will get cut into four more. One third would be four twelfths, so two thirds would be eight twelfths.
You can figure out 1/4 on your own.
Once you have all your fractions with a common denominator, just add the numerators.
