I have a koi pond with 22 fish in it. The pond is 3 feet off the ground. This morning when I wen to feed them they were all gone. The pond is in front of a bench that is covered with flower pots. There doesn't seem to be a disturbance. I understand if a raccoon, possum, or egret ate maybe 4 or 5 in the middle of the night but what animal could have eaten all 22 fish? I checked the morning before and there were still a lot of fish in the pond.

My backyard is fenced. No large animal could have gotten in.

I live in California, in the desert. There are owls, falcons, and hawks but I've never seen seabirds.

Like others have said, either a human(s) stole them or a large predatory fishing bird flew in and took them. Living on the coast I am well aware that such birds can easily pick up a good number of fish and fly off with them.
Living in New York I am well aware that there are people out there who will steal just about anything, if for no other reason than for a few laughs.
Stinks what happened to you, sorry about that.

A group of any animal (like the pack or family), especially if they are hungry, can empty an entire pond. Put up a type of screen or something.

Most likely, a whole bunch of raccoons or something, starved for food, ate them in a desperate atempt to survive. Sorry about your fish.

I'd say probably a heron. They've stolen fish from me before. They fly over, see the water, come down and then stand in the water and go fishing.

If there is no small pieces of fish, it means that your fishes were stolen. Thats the only thing that explains the no distrbance.
