I have a wooden comb, and recently some black spots have grown on the end of the handle. I'm assuming it's fungus. But I really like the comb and I know breathing in the spots is unhealthy. How can I get rid of the spots?

Soak it in bleach.

Bleach. Rinse in cool water. If the spots don't come off with just a little soak, use an old toothbruch or something like that to lightly scrub. You should cleanse you combs and brushes in hot water and a little bleach once a month.

Spray it with lysol, or dip it in a pot of boiling water.
That should kill any mold or fungus. Also, make sure you store your comb in a clean, dry environment.

If you soak it in bleach, that will make your comb smell nasty and will rub off to your hair and make your hair smell nasty.

Bleach.
Regular household cleaner that has some bleach in it.
Spray it, let it soak, rinse, let it dry in heat, with a hair dryer, or sunshine, problem solved.
Repeat every few weeks.
