i told a girl that she was slandered about. now she knows that it was one of her closest friends.was i wrong?

i was with a group of my classmates when one girl blurred out that this other girl that left the school cheated on her boyfriend. anyway so just recently i told the girl that she was talked about. but see the thing is im not that close to her nor am i close to the girl that blabbed. but both of them are close friends. was wat i did wrong?
and now she knows that it was one of her close friends. what do i do?

U could lose both friends..
