or does it have to be wired into the house circuit ?

also is it a problem if its connected via normal house cable instead of round flex ?

That's ok, most outdoor floodlights have a maximum power of 500W, which draws 2 Amps of current. Your plugs in your house can have 13 Amp fuses, so don't worry about it, just plug it in.
