What kind of greedy, egotistical *** would do such a thing? Sam Zell. I guess it's one of his top priorities in order to get the Tribune company out of debt. I know he's a business man but why would you spend over $8,000,000,000 in order to worry about debt. Imagine walking into McDonald's Wrigley Field and walking through two arches before entering. I'd die...

Do you think if a large company were to buy the naming rights that there'd be a possibility of them simply keeping the name of Wrigley Field? What do you think the fans would do. Personally as a Chicagoan, and a die hard Cubs fan, I would some how find a way to support the cubs, but destroy the name of Sam Zell, and all his greedy businessmen.

Before all of today's greed, the lights were supposed to be installed in 1941. Once Peral Harbor was attacked, William Wrigley's son (I can't remember his name) donated the materials to the war effort. Now I was born about a year after the lights were installed.. so what do I know about the history and integrity of wrigley regarding the lights? right??? think what you will...

I know it's a business, but for the most part, besides underarmour ads and flashing scrolls on first and third base side, greed has not totally taken over the Wrigley Field NAME. I garuntee the fans would much rather pay $6 for a beer (in a can) than pay the loss of the name of the sacred Wrigley Field. It'd be a shame to watch the second great Chicago fire, unfortunately (as dedicated as the cubs fans are) it might come to that.

....this fire would not be started by a cow either.

I would laugh if Anhauser-Busch or Miller bought the rights and named it after their rivals' stadium! LOL

I guess the Wrigley gum people need to put up or shut up if they want to keep their name on the door. The Busch family sold the Cardinals, yet ponied up the cash to keep the name on the new stadium. Carl Linder sold the Reds, yet paid to have their field named Great American, after his insurance company. Don't BLOW it, or it will be a STICKY situation.

You don't know, maybe they will nad maybe they won't. Who knows they might keep it Wrgley Field, or change it so it will be named after thier company, or hold onto the naming rights so they can name it whatever they want, whether or not the fans like it. But do they care if fans like it or not. It seems to me that Sam Zell is not intrested in owning the Chciago Cubs for a really long time, so that is why on Openning Day, when he purchased the Chicago Tribune (owners of the Chicago Cubs since 1981), he annouced that after the 2007 season, he will be putting them up to sale, and it looks like he hopes to have this done, and a new owner(s) in place, come openning day. And I guess he figures that along with the Chicago Cubs, and the stadium, that he has to sell the naming rights for it. But you have to aks him why he is doing this, because he can answer it better then I could.

He said he plans on selling the team prior to opening day which is like 4 months away which means he has four months to do it in cause after that we probably wont ever here his name again. He's just stiring up media, once he sells the cubs for like 500 mill- 1bill he will reduce his debt by 1/16-1/8 which will make him happy.

Wrigley, or whatever it might be called won't need lights anymore. All of the Cub fans will light torches and start chasing people.
