Kilo = 1000 = 10^3
Mega = 1000 000 = 10^6
Giga = 1000 000 000 = 10^9

1 byte = 8 bits = 1 character, like 'a' or '£' or '6'

so a kilo byte = 1000 bytes
a Megabyte = 1000 000 bytes
a gigabyte = 1000 000 000 bytes.

BUT...
bomputers work on binary, so actually...

1 KB = 1024Bytes
1 MB = 1048576 Bytes
1 GB = 1073741824 Bytes
