All of the doors on my 2004 Pontiac Grand Am are frozen shut. The locks are not frozen, it is the actual door. I have tried pounding along the door cracks to break up the ice, but no avail. I have tried pouring water along the cracks, and it appeared to work on the ice, but I'm still unable to open the doors. I am very hesitant to use water, even warm water, on my car as I once witnessed windows being cracked due to this. I have even used brute force, but I am afraid to break the door handles. This is day #2 of not being to leave my home due to my frozen car. I need some new ideas... nothing given in previous answers has helped me. Please no preventive measures, unless you want me screaming in frustration. Just solutions. :)

Warm or hot water will do the trick- use a spray bottle with the stream setting, not spray. Start at the top, work your way around the outside of the door. Work fast, or the water will re-freeze. plain rubbing alcohol works too. NEVER use anti-freeze, it will mess up your paint.

The very next time you're able to get all the doors to open go to any auto parts store and buy two tubes of silicone ignition grease. Using a finger wipe a small even bead of the grease 360 degrees around all your doors directly on the foam rubber gasket material which is located around the car's body where the door rests when they're closed. Silicone grease which is an inert lubricant. It will not damage the foam rubber. DO NOT use any type of petroleum oil such as WD-40 or CRC-56 spray as it will disintegrate the foam rubber.

In a pinch, spray the gasket material with 100% silicone spray. It will not last as long as the silicone ignition grease however.

If indeed you're having frozen latch or lock issues a mechanic can remove the inner door panals and spray the mechanacal slide rods and latches with super lightweight oil.

Sounds like the locking mechanism or latch is frozen. Need to warm up to get it to work so try a hair dryer. apply heat to the lick and door latch as much as possible. Or try the other door, then slide across.

Could you take a bullet heater and put it nearby?Aim it at the door, but not too close (don't want to burn anything).
