My 11 month old is teething and has four sharp teeth, two each on the lower and upper jaw.During breast-feeding,she keeps biting me,as a resullt of which,I hav got a small cut on my left nipple. It pains a lot, whenever she feeds from tht breast.I feed her from the right breast, but she prefers the left one more(especially when she's sleepy).
I am in extreme pain whenever, she feeds from the left nipple.
What shall I do? Can any one with experience, help me out and suggest an easy, harmless and effective home remedy for healing this bruise? I don't feel like consulting the doctor for this matter. Pls help me.Thnx....

Get some lanolin and keep it on your sore breast. It will heal very quickly, keep her on it. The milk will help heal it and keep it clean.

You need to teach her not to bite. My son went through this too, every nursing baby does. Flick her cheek, or slap her thigh and say OUCH! DONT BITE!, unlatch her an dont let her nurse until she realizes that her boobie is gone.

If you're careful to do the same thing EVERY TIME she'll learn very quickly that biting results in discomfort and the loss of her boobie.

:) IT doesnt last long, I promise.

There is a special cream I used when I was breastfeeding. It's called Mommy's Bliss. It is all natural and you do not need to remove it before you nurse. They also have silcone nipple protector. I have never used those, but I imagine it would help protect against some of the biting. You can buy both of these at drugstore.com. When my son would bite me, and I know it sounds mean, but my mother told me to do this, I would thump his cheek. I think it scared him more than it hurt and he would stop biting. I also explained that it hurt Mommy. You would be amazed how much they understand. I hope this helps.

This is going to sound strange but it works. Use bag balm to heal the sore breast. You can find it anywhere (Walgreens carries it for cheap). First pump from the sore breast and then clean the area. Apply a good amount, you may want to use a nursing pad to keep your bra clean. Do this for a few days. If she continues to bite you remover her as soon as she does it look at her and tell her that she hurt you and if she wants to continue she won't bite you again. I hope this helps and good luck.

Ignore all the people telling you to wean, that's not what you need to do. Use lanolin cream and when baby bites gently pull baby off say no and then re latch after a minute and biting though will result in baby not being on breast. That's it, it worked for me with all 3, my baby just started wanting to chew... It's totally fixable just stick it out.

Don't let her nurse from the left-hand side until it's better. Or else cut her off. She's almost a year old now. You can also try making sure to get as much loose skin as possible away from your breast using your fingers so the kid can get a lot more into her mouth and thus put less pressure on that one little area.

Ouch, I remember that! My son started doing it at about 8 months old. However, I quickly taught him not to bite by putting my finger between his teeth and my nipple to separate, firmly telling him no, and removing him from me. He quickly learned not to bite, and I was able to continue nursing for an additional 6 months.
For the bruise, you may want to try just cold compresses until the swelling goes down. But if it gets too bad, I really would consult your doctor. Good luck and feel better!

keep your baby alert when she is feeding she is ignorant of the bite even she is uncomfortable to suck because of her teeth so she tries to hold you morwe closely in the fear of loosing it so you get the wound try to keep her awake by tickling or thumping her cheek or just keep your fingers rolling around her ears this won't make her fast asleepand even you could feed her quickly instaed of sitting for long time and than make her sleep i m sure she would rest for a longer time as her tummy would be full for your cut you can apply nipcare ointment or as a home remedy i could suggest you to apply milk cream bye have a nice time love and regards for your baby

A cream that works for a raw and chapped nipples might work. You can buy them over the counter. Have you tried pumping until it heals? It would still be sore but nothing like those baby chompers! Good luck!

Train your child to suck with lips. Applying cream will cure your wound but will not prevent further wound as long as you feed the child. May be you may not be getting sufficeint milk and the child may be pressing hard. Take shatavari to increase the breast milk.

There is a cream called lanolim, (I think I spelled it wrong) it is in the purple container. It will help heal and sooth. It is safe for baby. You can get it at just about any drug store or maternity shop.
