All you need to do is go to the post office or DMV and fill out a new form, mail it ! There it's done! Very easy! (in some states, you can find them on line, look up your secretary of state for your state, print the form and mail it)

I switched to Independent by going to the county clerks office and requesting the change be made on my voter card. 5 minutes tops. Piece of cake. I can no longer vote in primaries but I can run as an independent and maybe create an upset.

you dont need to switch, just vote democrat in the next election. the chosen political affiliation is just a label, so people can count and see how many of each kind of voter lives in an area.

Actually, they base your political affiliation with how you vote in the primaries. Just ask for the Democratic ballet when you go to vote.

I,m British and Iv'e never understood why you have to register your political affiliation, in this country you join a local party and elect your representative, nobody but your local branch knows

It's probably about as much of a hassle as registering to begin with.

It doesn't matter - your affiliation is only for census purposes. You can still vote any party you want and it counts just the same.
