About 120 GB.
I expect that on a new laptop, you would not have access to the full 120 GB right out of the box since the system and programs will occupy some of that, so you would end up with 100 or 110 GB available out of 120.

After it has been formatted, it will hold a little less than 120gb. However, if you put an operating system on this particular drive, the available space on the drive to put other data would be a few gigabytes less.

if your using it for music and pictures aswell as software then your best bet is either a 320gb or a 500gb they will last for for a little while but you will out grow them quicker than you realise. you can install the programs on the hard drive but its always recormended to keep that as a system memory job. can be done though if your trying to save alot of space.

that depends on what room is left on your system now....
windows takes up 3 gig.then you have all the programs that are now installed.
so to see what space you have left,, goto my computer click on C:/ drive. and press your right mouse button and then click on properties and it will tell you how much space is taken up with data. and how much is free space,,,, but don't forget windows uses hard disk space for virtual memory..
