I am 41, with no children. I had a vasectomy when I was 21. I am so amazingly proud of my choice, that I plan to throw a party for my 20 years of having had a vasectomy.

My girlfriend, who is 36 has no children. She was "fixed" when she was 25. She is also proud of her choice.

So why did I choose not to have children? I don't need the headache. I also had to raise my little brother who is learning disabled. I was done parenting by the time I was about 12.

Because I have no children I can pursue my hobbies, like getting stamps in my passport (travel). The best thing about not having children is I look like I am about 30. My brother has children by marriage. He is 4 years younger than I am, and looks older than I do. What more could I ask for?

That would be me! lol I'm not that far into my 40's. However, I decided a LONG time ago that it just wasn't something that appealed to me personally.
Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that I am the youngest of 6 kids and got to see firsthand all of the time/money/effort AND responsibility it takes to not only HAVE them, (anyone can make a baby) but to really do a top-notch job at molding and shaping another human being into becoming a great and upstanding individual.
Not that I think I would have done a terrible job at it. though.
I completely and sincerely respect and appreciate when those that do choose to have and raise children actually take the most important and serious job of their whole life seriously and whole-heartedly, because it DEFINITELY shows when a parent is either doing their best job possible or not.
There was a period in my 30's, where I had to really question my decision, and it took about a year to decide for certain that I actually would be OK with NEVER having any children, and so far, I do not regret my decision.

I'm 49 & I've never had children. D/T the emotional/verbal/psychological abuse I endured as a child & into my teens & 20's, I believed I was too emotionally damaged to be a good parent & I didn't want to perpetuate the cycle.

I do not have any and I am 41. I just am a little to selfish to have kids. I know I am always on the go and would not make a good dad, so I have remained child free.

I would be surprised if someone in that situation would want to really share all of their personal info with a stranger.
