Having married a Caucasian girl and since had a child with her, my korean mate Peter is well aware of the consequences of bucking tradition; his mother refused to come to his wedding.

"Especially with Koreans, there's a lot of national pride involved, it's like losing face if you don't marry a girl of your own nationality."

So is that the answer? Are Asian guys just not approaching Aussie girls because their families may not eventually accept them marrying a Caucasian girl?

No doubt there'll be many posters who consider this topic racist and inflammatory, and to anybody who is offended, rest assured I'm writing this out of genuine curiosity and apologise if any of my generalisations or assumptions come off as crass.

this negative stereotype has been reduced slowly in the eyes of the most new current generation of white girls and asian guys....

but the negative prejudice and the racism are still going on, many parents of the asian guys are extremely streotyping the white girls as a $LUT$, and white girls do not often go out with the asian guys, cause they are shorter than themselves (in fact there are some tall asian men either)....

this will be never ending.....and the world war 3 will be starting soon, if China put on their strong military weapons everywhere in the pacific.

I don't think it is at all racist to have a sexual preference for or against an ethnic type.

We like what we like, nobody else has to experience our relations, so they have no right to judge.

The ignorance you talk about is widely prevalant in most races, not just Koreans and white women.

There's no doubt some of our customs, traditions, etc may seem odd in other cultures eyes, but then again the reverse is true. It is highly common for Korean men to walk down the street hand in hand with each other. I've been there, and to me it seemed wierd at first. Some people driven by ignorance and lack of cultural understanding would call these actions wierd and foreign as well. In Asian societies there is a huge importance on family and the family name, "wierd" situations such as yours would be viewed by some to hurt the family name and thus their reputation. It's all hogwash.

With regards to your last statement about World War III starting by China putting their weapons in the Pacific noone can know that for sure. In fact the United States have bases throughtout the Pacific already. Including Japan, the Phillipines, Guam, Saipan, Hawaii, Johnston Island, need I continue?

Based on current events it's more likely that if it happens soon WWIII would involve the Middle East.

Interesting thoughts. Good question. Overly strong National/Racial Pride in any country/race, can have you "going along with the crowd" instead of listening to your heart and the truth. Pride is a sin right? C'mon now, I know I read it was. I did a little Bible Study with Korean Missionaries.
Should your nation decide who you get to marry? No.
Should pride dictate this choice for you? No.
If they did in fact do this, would this not be more considered as losing face by losing your freedom?
Here in the US we are entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That means - we are free to choose.
Anybody at all. Any American at all who exercises his/her freedom in this matter has more "face" in my opinion than somebody who lets others decide things for him/her.

I don't think race is the only factor. Think about customs and traditions. Asian men are very family oriented. A friend of mine (male asian) dated a white girl. She had a hard time dealing with the fact that he lived at home with his parents and sisters and that all his money went toward the house, instead of going out and spending money on her. On the weekends that he didn't work, he spent his time fixing the yard or the house, so on. Asian families are very close. Whatever money they make is "family money". That's just one example.

That's really ironic because so many Asian girls are skanks and only marry white American men if they have a lot of money...so I find it amusing that Asian parents would take this stand. But then, Asians have always imagined themselves to be superior to everyone else, can't imagine why. But that's how many of them think.

Wow I am not sure this is really interesting though. I have heard this from other cultures predominately it is women who do not want their sons marrying white women. To each his or her own.

Seriously? No one gives a crap about Koreans marrying white girls or how they feel about it. WE have no issue with it. These are inner feelings that have nothing to do with a Q and A site, and there isn't even a question in this mess, anyways.
