I was put on birth control in August b/c i had developed a hemmorhagic ovarian cyst- the birth control i am on (micro-nor) does not cause me to have a period, which is nice. my dilema is that i want to go off my birth control this week when it ends b/c i am not sexually active but my doctor basically implied that if i want to remain cyst-free i should stay on it but left the decision up to me... i dont want to go off it and develop a cyst next month. i am looking for other people's opinion on this, should i stay on it just to be safe or go off it?

Stay on the pill--I don't see a down side to staying on it, unless there's something you're not telling us, and there's a significant downside to going off it. So give your ovaries a rest for another year or so.

I would recommend staying on the pill for now and then get back in touch with your doctor again after the holidays to discuss the issue further to see what other suggestions they may have.
