can u turn off the modem off from the computer?

You can't turn it off but you can disable it. Go to control panel/netwwork and dial-up connections.

Right click on the two icons that say 'dial-up connection' and 'incoming connection' and choose disable. This will make sure there is no incoming or outgoing activity through the modem.

It sounds like you have an external modem.

If your concern is the power that the modem is using, that power should be just a few watts, maybe 10 at the most. But it's still something.

If your computer is 400 MHz or more in speed, you can buy an internal modem card for around $10. That would go inside the computer, and turn off along with the computer.

But to answer the question directly, no I'm not aware of any command that will power off the modem from the computer.

It depends. If it's dial up and the modem is in your computer, you should be able to. Otherwise, I doubt it that you can turn it off from your computer.

in case you mean turning your computing gadget off, click start up. turn off computing gadget on the backside of the start and then click restart or turnoff. its extra useful to no longer click standby for that seems to make a mistake the computing gadget ;) wish this facilitates
