I am trying to find an article that refers to a gentleman called Sergeant Robert William John Waller sadly he is now deceased, it was a despatch for distinguished service recognition, I have tried the archives for the London Gazette but the page does not open does anyone have any ideas where I can get a copy of this article from or does anyone have a copy. I would be extremely grateful as he is a relative of mine and I am trying to trace this article for my Aunt.

Thank You in advance for any helpful answers.

I located news of a medal awarded to my granfathers brother during the first world war through the London Gazette.

I tried my local library first but they didn't keep records that far, they however gave me their address, and the London Gazette sent me a copy of the entry I required.

Libraries will usually have micro-form of popular international and local newspapers. If you're in London you can phone around to your local libraries and see if they have the newspaper on micro-form. It usually costs a small amount to print a copy of the article, twenty-five cents the last time I used them, but it was free to save them to a flash drive or disk.

If you cannot find a library that has it near you, a number of libraries will do inter-library loans. You can check with the reference desk and see if they can locate a library that has the paper; they might be able to print a paper copy of the article and mail or fax it to the library you're at (possibly scan it and send it as a picture in an email). When I was at university I relied heavily on inter-library loans to get copies of European newspaper articles for historical research papers.
