Is it ok to wear a pinstripe shirt with pinstripe pants? I have a blue pinstripe shirt (white stripes) and black pinstripe pants.

Not a good idea. Try a solid with a pinstripe - then add a patterned tie [ not striped! ]

You can get away with it, but it's tricky. the combo you suggest has too many different colors. if you pull all your items from the same color group it can work. I once met a man who was wearing a navy suit with white pinstripes, with a white shirt with blue stripes, AND a blue and white striped tie. One of the best looks I've ever seen. It takes some trial and error, though, and requires a large wardrobe.

It would work if the shirt had very fine black pinstripes...then wear a red silk sash or tie.

I think that would be a bit much. Best to wear one or the other with plain shirt or pants
