Depends on how you read it. It's like a combo Big Mac, inkblot test, and an IQ test, with a drug screen. Since nobody chose to be alive, we don't have a clue as to the original meaning. But we are not clueless. Consider: The proton in the hydrogen atom, is surrounded by a very busy electron. If you could see this relationship, if would be like this, the proton would be a speck of dust, and the electron field would be the walls of the Sistine Chapel. So you see, most of reality is a vacuum, empty space. We are barely here. Throw in the reality that The Creator did it this way on purpose, cause maybe It had no other choice, and that damn near every creature ever made had the complete DNA code only in the female of each critter, it stands to reason that the Deity is female. The males are here to mix it up, and be entertainment. Since everything that breaths inherited that trait, it just might be that sex has a lot to do with the meaning of life. Life does seem to gather up a lot more meaning when one is having a fair amount of sex. Other reasons count for plenty, but reproduction is something done by the Deity, cause, well, She likes it. Isn't that just grand?

Life: the quality that distinguishes a vital and functional being from a dead body.
My purpose is what I choose to attain or to do deliberately. I have many purposes.
I've never had a fear of death. My spirit will not face death. I will just no longer be in need of my body (like discarding old worn out clothes or something you've outgrown).
I don't understand your "need meaning" question. However, I think a person should strive to mean what they say and say what they mean.
Love is always preferable because it makes everything and everyone better.

Scared of Death? not sure that relates to the rest of the topic but to deal with that for a second, i used to be very morose and suffer with morbid ideation eg cry alot about having to suffer the death of my parents and family at some point eventually and what ultimately i came to realize that there has never been anybody in the course of history ever, ever, EVER that has been spare the grief of losing loved ones, so why should i be any different. To carry the assumption that i should be different is to greet insanity. Life is for the living, and i realized that i should enjoy my life carelessly of future grief and when the time comes i should experience it then, gladly, as part of the course of life, inseperable.
And its for the individual to find their own meaning.

The purpose of life is to find an answer to the ultimate question. The ulitmate question is "what is the purpose of life". LOL, i don't really know. Just living one day at a time and searching for meaning.

I don't think there is a meaning of life as such. It's a fantastic, extraordinary thing to have, and for a very short time, but if there is a meaning to it, its what you personally decide it is. What do you mean when you say, 'What is your purpose'? That kind of implies that we are given one. This is flawed thinking. You are on your own to make of your life what you will.

The meaning of life is to do what one is good at and to do it honestly with the aim of getting always better at it.
The process of betterment during successive earthly lives is a recurrent theme on all continents throughout ages.

my purpose is to accomplish my dreams before i leave this world... but who knows... i may die in a tragic accident tomorrow... or get cancer...

i have no answers. only riddles. Life is a thread, death is scissorrs. riddles is what make life worth living. live long enough to try to answer all the riddles.
