I believe the best thing canadians can do in general, even if the US economy weren't on the verge of collapse (which it TOTALLY is, all you assholes who think otherwise are braindead) is to stay as far away from corrupt american businesses as possible, worldwide support for companies such as Enron, Microsoft, Haliburton, etc. is what has made it possible for Corporate America to take over the world. If one, just one, industrialized nation were to take a stand and say "NO MORE" it would bring about the end of this corruption, others wouldn't be so afraid to speak out. I think Canada is in a position to do a great thing for the world by specifically speaking out against their brainwashed southern neighbor. And as far as what Americans can do, OPEN YOUR EYES, corporations own your children, your dog, and you house, and they've owned you for YEARS. The time has come to act......

The long-term thing to do is work to diversify Canada's exports. The US has problems because they are a net importer of goods. Canada is a net exporter of goods so is doing very well now, but if you subtract out Canada's exports to the the US, Canada is a net *importer* from nearly everywhere else. If the US does the right thing for itself -- cut back on imports -- that is very much the wrong thing for Canada.

If you want to actually ameliorate the issues in the states, Canadians can do what they already probably do a lot more of with the higher loonie: cross border shopping. American retailers are feeling some pain now, and a good influx of Canadian customers would be welcome.

There is not much that can be done. Canada and the USA are very much tied together economically. An old saying is the US gets a cold, Canada gets pneumonia. It still applies. Canada must depend on the Bank of Canada to keep a tight rein on inflation (or deflation) and Canada must continue in expanding trade with other nations.

If we do have a economic collpase, not likely, the Canadians could be neighborly and send us some care packages of beer and Canadian Bacon. Of course, you guys probably just call it bacon.

Trout, I know ya'll did. And all Americans need to thank our neighbor to the north again for that. Just cracking a joke dude. I don't see an economic collapse in our future. Maybe a slight recession, but no collapse.

Diversify trade. The Canadian economy depends too much upon exports to the United States. Canada needs to cultivate more potential markets for their exports.

They can always hire rhe poor suckers to build a fence to keep them out ......Hey, wouldn't it be funny if we see the Americans jumping the wall on the Mexican border to get well paying jobs? But it sure looks like it. Well, ya get what you vote for.

The best thing Canadians can do: stay out of business in the US. There will be no economic collapse. They idea is just plain silly.

If the U.S. suffers an economic collapse, so will the entire industrialized world. Let's just hope it doesn't happen.
