After occupying Britain for over 350 years, the Romans voluntarily withdrew their armies from the island about 410 A. D. because the Empire was under assault by barbarians (mostly German) closer to home. The withdrawal left Britain vulnerable to invasion from Ireland, what is now Scotland, and, a little later, the northern part on continental Europe; and when the Romanized British people appealed to Rome for help, they were told that they should now consider themselves independent.

The rest of the story may not be relevant to your project, but here it is, just in case. According to early histories, a British king, Vortigern, about 449 A. D., had the idea of hiring mercenaries from the Continent. They (Jutes from what is now Denmark--"Jutland") did what they were hired to do but then looked around, decided they liked it there, and sent home for their friends and relations. By 500, Britain was in the midst of a full-scale invasion by Jutes and two larger, related tribes, Angles and Saxons; and by the end of that century, what had been Roman Britain was well on the way to becoming England. IF there was a King Arthur, he lived in the first half of the sixth century (500's) and led a temporarily successful resistance to the Anglo-Saxon invasion.

Rome didn't so much loose Britain as desert it. There was no internal revolt which threw them out. In the early 5th century the Roman heartland was under heavy threat and in 407 the last legion left Britannia. The withdrawal had, however, began earlier. In the late 4th century there were attacks from Germanic tribes and in 383 CE Magnus Maximus had himself declared Emperor in Britain (trying to repeat the success of Constantine) and crossed the channel with a number of troops to try ans arrack these tribes in their heartlands, He was, however, killed in 388CE and many of the troops did not return. In 410 the Romano-Britains petitioned the Emperor Honorius for help, but they never received a reply. The Roman Empire in Britannia was at an end.
