The reason is that these wealthy, power-hungry elitists want to keep the entire upper latitudes for themselves and make it too expensive for anyone else to live here. They will make it impossible for even upper-middle class people to pay for their energy bills (for heating, electricity, gasoline, natural gas, etc). Rather than have us all freeze to death, these benevalent souls will just force us all to move south. We average Americans can then fight with the mexicans and the European masses can fight with the Africans for the warmer latitudes, where everyone will be naked, warm, poor and "happy".
The high costs will be borne by sky-high taxes and also sky -high prices. It's the purest way to control people. Remove our ability to stay warm. Ironically, under the guise of Global WARMING, we will all freeze, or move far far south to the slums and jungles of the Third World.

You also sound like we should all depend on our government to keep us abundant with resources. If we all had to, we would still pay to keep ourselves warm by sacrificing other things. Humans tend to adapt to their surroundings. Go take a benzo.
