Since Colby is traditionally a more masculine name, I think it depends on what you chose for a middle name to make it work for a girl.
Colby Christine
Colby Leigh
Colby Rayne

I also wouldn't spell it with a K... but thats my personal preference

I knew a girl named Colby, spelled Colbi.
When I first heard her name I thought it was different but very cute.

I do like it for a boy or a girl. I would prefer it for a boy, but it is a cute girls' name. I would go Colby for a girl and Kolby for a boy. I would be cute spelled Colbie for a girl, like Colbie Caillat (famous for her song 'Bubbly'). I'm not too fond of the meaning though: coal miner. Well, hope this helps!

Colby conjures up images of a preppy man. Just don't pair Colby with Jack.

I think its a very cute name, but I don't like it at all for a girl. It has a strong masculine sound to it, but I'm very traditional like that so my taste may not match yours that way. I don't like "unisex" names either. But like I said, Colby is nice, just not for a girl.

And if you really want it to be for a girl I think maybe the spelling Colbie softens it a little.

Colby is a type of cheese. I wouldn't name my child that. What about Cody? Could be a girls or boys name.

I love it for a boy. I guess it could be used for a girl too. Colby with a "C".

I am going to give you my honest opinion, I am not meaning to offend you. I think of that really expensive meat. But most people don't know that that is so your fine. Other than that, it is a really good name.
