My family sits around the Christmas tree (actually, it's sort of funny - we haven't managed to get a Christmas tree yet so in our case we have this mechanical reindeer we put the presents under) and we each lay out the presents we've wrapped, then spend a while looking at them, and finally we each take turns opening one. After that we each say something nice about what we got, then go up to bed. Maybe if I unwrapped a book I'll read a chapter or two before turning out the lights. Or if I unwrapped a CD I'll listen to a track or two. Then sleep.

Tromp down the stairs (14 of 'em, btw) for a fresh cold Dasani water outta the fridge, turn off all the lights so it's pitch black, turn on the AM radio, and tune it to George Norry (formerly Art Bell's) Coast-To-Coast all-night radio show.

Put all the gifts under the tree and then close (and lock) the doors leading into the room because like every Christmas me, my husband, my sister-in-law, her husband, all our kids, our friends and their kids all spend the night at my in laws and the only way to keep the kids from getting up early and opened their gifts before everyone else gets up is to lock them out.

Aside from the routine brush teeth, wash face stuff, I'll probably sip egg nog on the couch and gaze at the fire or our lit Christmas tree.
