I really have been noticing as well too. Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson got nomiated for a Grammy (for best surround sound for Fear of a Blank Planet), that's gotta be something! Tool, Muse and Mars Volta broke into the mainstream and Dream Theater, Spock's Beard, Riverside and Opeth seem to be getting more fans by the day. It's really awesome.
PS, I'm starting a PT revolution here, I've gotten at least 5 people listening :0)

You know me..I have four Prog bands in My Top 10
Yes, Rush, Hawkwind, & Pink Floyd
Three more in My Top 20
ELP, Genesis, & Asia
Not to mention King Crimson, Eloy, Uriah Heep & Wishbone Ash in My Top 50
Or even Jethro Tull, Caravan, & Porcupine Tree in My Top 100
I'm personally very gratified to see the large numbers of teens who are into Prog...it really fills me with hope for the musical future.
Great question...and I'm a Yes Fan too

I'd say so. We're seeing a few more bands make it to the mainstream spotlight recently, like The Mars Volta, Coheed & Cambria, PT, etc.. In fact, I think PT was nominated for a Grammy??! That's def' a sure sign of a comeback.
Compare that to the "prog bleak" 80s. It's great. & even more are on the sidelines making some good music.

Progressive Rock/Metal/Electronic really never went away and has always been with us since the early Tangerine Dream days. More people today are listening to Progressive which is probably why you think it's making a "comeback".

Actually I'd agree with you. It's not mainstream again yet, but it appears to be heading that way. You'd be hard pressed to find a new band that suddenly isn't using the term "progressive" in a description of their music or within their influences.

I'm glad its coming back yeah!! There are more good prog rock ands outhere. But I really hope it won't become mainstream, because it will ruin whole music.
