The new Iraq government hasn't passed the "divvy up the oil" bill that has already been drafted. Not sure how they had time to draft one up, when they can't do much of anything else, but it must have been a big priority, if Bush didn't write it himself.
By the way, that was only a scam to get cons to think their taxes aren't going to go up to pay for it. Because lets look at reality....our government requested other government forgive billions in debt that Iraq owed, while think their oil would pay for everything?? hmmmm

This is the basic reason for the continued turmoil in Iraq. Different factions in the now constituted government are still trying to agree on the disposition of the oil revenue. Not to help matter countries like Russia, China, U.S., Iran are trying to influence the outcome. Wolfowitz thought that after the fighting was over that the oil revenue could be controlled and used for the good of the people of Iraq----that seems a far fetched dream.

Good question, Iraq has been pumping 1-3 millions barrels each year-for the past 3-4 years, more or less, where did all the oil go ?

This goes along with the idea that we would be welcomed as liberators. The administration did not count on two things. 1) They didn't realize that the Iraqi oil infrastructure was already in a poor state of repair and 2)They didn't count on insurgents sabatoging the oil infrastructure. You could probably add another one, the administration didn't count on how slowly and inefficient contractors would be when it came to getting Iraq's oil infrastructure up to snuff.

Bush & Co. testified in front of Congress that the cost of the war wouldn't exceed $50 billion either.
However, it is around $500 billion now.
I wonder how my clients and/or boss would react if I underbudgeted a project by 10x the true cost?
Somehow I think I would be out of a job.

There is a lot of oil flowing, but there was MAJOR infrastructural damage to the entire system that needs repair.
