Answer: It can be any integer. There are
infinitely many possibilities for the 6th number.
In other words, this question is meaningless
(from the mathematical point of view). You can
find here many questions of this type.

I am stumped if you are not looking for the number 6. Of course it can be anything you want it to be and we would have to know the rule on which the sequence was built.

Hi,
If this is an Arithmetic Sequence, the next number would be 6 because we are adding 1 to the previous number to get the next number.
However, please note, if this is such a trick question, you need to provide more information on how they are getting the sequence. There are a million other ways to get this and you need to be specific if there's a special formula/method that's being used in this problem.
Otherwise, people are just going to notice that you're adding one every time to get 6 as the next number in the sequence!
FINAL ANSWER: 6
I hope that helps you out! Please let me know if you have any other questions!
Sincerely,
Andrew

Starting at 1...
2 = 1+ 1
3 = 1 * 2
4 = 2 * 2
5 = 3 + 2
See the pattern?? No?? Well the next number should be 4 * 2 = 8.

The question is: the first FIVE numbers are...
The question asked for the next, not the next number, but (implied) the NEXT FIVE numbers in the sequence.
So, the next (five numbers) are: 6,7,8,9,10.
