Negativity has a domino effect. Someone is mean or offensive to another person. It makes that person feel bad and they, in turn, treat another person badly. The only way to overcome it is to learn to turn the other cheek and to not respond to a negative person in the same way. Sometimes unexpected kindness and compassion can break the cycle.

This is a whole line of thought called Negative Utilitarianism. Too deep to cover in this small space.
Use Google.com and indulge yourself to the fullest. Hitler and Lenin indulged in it and see what happened to them and their forms of government they tried to impose on the western world. Democrats are excellent students of this concept and will implode but not before they really screw things up here in America. They have been harping that Bush is BAD, EVIL, NO GOOD and have succeeded in convincing some people ... especially young people. That was a NAZI tactic. If you say it long enough, people will believe it.
In psychology the Brain's Negative Bias explores this realm of human behavior and tries to understand why negative remarks hurled at people can sometimes "stick" inside the brain for decades. "You're stupid" "You're no good" "You're just a piece of ****" and so forth. These remarks when hurled towards someone especially young children it registers in the brain as lasting impressions that can turn an otherwise bright, useful and intelligent person into one of crime, terror and self destruction. Columbine? VA Tech? to name two.
Be careful and don't study on this too hard. Try to avoid it. Remember you are an amerICAN. What do the last four letters of American spell ... hmmm? I CAN. Remember that and always tell yourself. I CAN I CAN I CAN and you will.

It feels better to be joyful and positive. We are empathetic beings, and experience some of the feelings of those around us. A positive outlook and success go hand in hand. Negativity breeds failure. Surround yourself with positive people. It is a recipe for happiness.

For instance, if you say you can't do something, you will find a way to prove yourself right, and you will surely fail.
