There must be a lot of lonely folks out there who go about life as usual from Thanksgiving to New Year's, right?

Last year I spent thanksgiving alone because I didn't want to spend it w/ my crazy mother or hang with someone else's family. It was alright, just a day to eat and gorge anyway.

I have spent a few alone. Having 8 kids and 5 grandkids I enjoy the time alone. We do our exchange on the eve and I rest up for decorating rose parade floats!

Mostly women too, and then again, they are often based in more urban areas. And many of them make an effort to celebrate on their own, with a cosy meal or a good DVD. But, c'est la vie in the 21st century.

My husband is in Iraq. This is our first Christmas as a married couple... but honestly, it doesn't feel like Christmas without him here. So.. I think I'm just going to skip it. (And next year too, because he won't be home until 2009.)
