I used mine until my son was potty trained. My daughter is now 13 months old and I still use it and probably will until she's potty trained. But both kids just laid there calmly while I changed them, if it were a safety issue I probably would have stopped.

I have always been an on the go kind of changer. Wherever I am at the time my baby needs changing is where she gets changed. I don't think I've ever used a changing table ( not much for etiquette huh?)
But if he is getting too big for your changing table, I'd recommend the bed or the floor. And since he's a boy, the floor would probably be best. My son is 3 now, but I still remember those accidents that shot way over his head!
I guess whatever is most comfortable to you is best. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family!

Around 6 months for the same reasons you listed. We turned the bottom of one of our Living room end tables into a diaper changing station & use the living room floor (carpeted).
For over a month, we've been using the bathroom sink to rinse him off rather than using wipes so it works out a lot better all around. Much easier on the back too!!

I've never owned or used a changing table with my kids. I changed them on my lap, or the floor, or my bed, or the couch.
I always thought they took up space and were an unnecessary expense.
You have to teach him to lie still for changing. It can be a challenge but it is only the first of many. My advice would be to "practice" lying still when not in the middle of a messy diaper. Make it fun and rewarding when he lays still for you and always make sure he has something to hold or distract him while you change him.
Wish you all the best.

I used the changing table until my daughter was about 2 years old. She always laid very still and I wasn't ever worried about a safety issue because I never left her laying there by herself. I wouldn't even turn around while she was on it. We had one of those changing tables with the drawer right below where we change her so the diapers and everything I needed were right there.

My duaghter is 21 months and we just stopped using it within the past week or so. She just prefers the floor. I was using it less nad less and found at her age it is easier to dress her on the floor.
Howver I am keeping it until she is potty trained, as that is where all the diapers, wipes, creams, lotions, etc are kept. I like the shelves for storage!

at around six months I stopped using the changing table with my youngest she used to roll over and wrestle me and it was such a battle getting her diaper I would change her on the floor and put my leg over her so she couldn't move as much it makes it much easier. Although I got some strange looks from friends and family when they saw me doing this

I never really used it much at all. With my first, I HAD to have one. At least, that's what I thought. I ended up just always changing him on my bed, the floor, the couch, his crib.... wherever he was at that moment. With my 2nd child, I used it a bit more because I was able to keep her out of reach from my son's "helping hands". Now, with my third, I only use the changing table as storage. lol I throw all the laundry up there so that I can fold it. lol Its still useful, just not for its intended purpose.

We stopped at 9 months- when it became dangerous for her to be still as she tried to stand and the like.
Wrestling? YES!
FUN? NO!
We went from the changing table to the floor- and now at 16 months where we start out dressing and changing her is not where we actually end up when we are finally, FINALLY finished. As it happens, it takes 2 of us to do a poopy diaper, and 2 of us to get her dressed.
Exercise??? You bet!
Good luck!

I never used a changing table! I've diapered 3 of my own and countless other babies and I always use the floor.
