That thinks Gift Certificates and Bath and Body Works (body sprays and lotions) is a cop out gift?

I mean how hard is it to put thought into a gift for someone. If you don't know them (i.e. secret santa) then MAAAAYYYBE... but for people you know... unless it's what they ask for... I think it's a cop out? anyone agree?

WOW... some of these answers are pretty nasty... I sound like a *****?? NIce.... Thanks for the holiday spirit....This wasn't a gift someone got me... I was just asking in general. Never said I didn't appreciate gifts. I love any gift someone gives me. Even if it's a bag of peanuts. Even that takes thought. I'm just saying....

Sorry you are getting all the negatives, just a lot of people with short tempers.
You are right, gift certificates tell me that the person giving them didn't respect me enough to figure out something thoughtful. I get them and still appreciate those gifts, but sometimes you just wonder!!!

Well that person wouldn't want you to be disappointed if they bought you a crappy gift lol!
What if you were allergic to a fragrance? There are a LOT of people who sneeze and can't stand certain smells of body sprays/perfumes/lotions.. A gift certificate is the best way to go, in my opinion =) Like one of my friend loves jewelry and books, I got her a gift card at Claire's and Barnes and Nobles =]
Happy holidays!!
p.s: • Wouldn’t you be saying the same thing (couldn’t they put some thought into a gift) if they decided to buy you a present that you didn’t like at all?

It's so hard to pick gifts for some people. They have everything they need, or they have very particular tastes, or whatever. I think the gift card is a godsend. Way better than stressing about a gift that ends up not being quite right.

i dont b/c liek gift cards its eaiser so that the person can go and get what they relly want from that store b/c most gifts end up in the back of the closet or in the trash so a gift card wont go to waste. for lotions and stuff well i mean its somethign most ppl wear so i dont think iut takes much thought but at least we know it will GO to use

no, it's not a way out. Whoever got it for you just wanted you to get whatever you wanted. what if they had gotten you a scent that you didn't like. Then you'd be bitching about how you didn't like it. Be thankful for what you've gotten and just be happy you got something, it's more than what some people got.

I have nothing against it, if someone thought of me, then I appreciate it. You sound like ******.
