Because Sadam gased his own people . Kurds, even though America is helping Turkey with info to bomb these people now.
What other reason besides oil, to show daddy something. If he wanted to help oppressed people why didn't he just after that in Cuba. It is closer and would have been a lot easier

Your right. Saddam had no WMD's and was not involved in 9/11.
The main reason was oil and the second was after the first gulf war, Saddam had put out a hit on Bush Sr.
What I find interesting though is Saudi Arabia has been financing a radical brand of Islam throughout the Arab world and most of the people involved in 9/11 were Saudis. Yet the government is still hand and glove with the royal family there.
Food for thought?

While oil was certainly one reason there were more important ones. The Bush Administration wanted a government in the Middle East that would be compliant to their wishes. They also felt the need for bases in the region. Iraq was the natural target. They knew they could come up with a plausible excuse to invade. Once Hussein was deposed, the political situation was so unstable it was easy to install a puppet government that would comply with anything they wanted. The most important wish was for the large military bases that we are building there. The scope of these bases make it clear that we have no intention of leaving for a very long time, whether the Iraqi people want us to or not.

Well, I could tell you that every other intelligence agency said Saddam had WMDs, had shown interest in aquiring yellow cake for nuclear weapons, not followed any of the UN sanctions imposed upon it, disregarded the treaty it signed after the first Gulf War, and almost taunted us into war in the late 90's numerous times because of Saddam's inability to follow the rules set out before him.

But, I don't think you'd really care.
