If you are a writer (particularly a fiction writer), and you plan to write a series of maybe three or four books, how can you write them all so that they are all unique and fresh? How do you prevent yourself from making the plot in your books sound too repetitious/similar to each other? Outlining? Brainstorming? Are there any other methods that could prove useful?

Any feedback would be helpful...

In my opinion, the best way to do it is to ouline each story so they all work toward one goal. But each deals with a different step toward that goal. Look at Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings for a great idea of this idea. Otherwise base the whole series on a specific idea which can be revisited in different ways. Chronicles of Narnia. Each way is poven to work, be sure your Main character is gaining and experiencing new things thoughout. Good Luck writing.
