right here is the the guideline for looking the nth term of any arithmetic series: a(n) = a(a million) + (n - a million)d, the place a(n) is the nth term, a(a million) is the 1st term, and d is the common distinction between words. for the reason that we already understand a(n) = a(6) = -2, and a(a million) = fifty 8, then all we could desire to continually do is plug them into the equation to locate d: a(n) = a(a million) + (n - a million)d -2 = fifty 8 + (6 - a million)d -2 = fifty 8 + 5d -2 - fifty 8 = 5d -60 = 5d -60/5 = d -12 = d. So the common distinction is -12, and the guideline could properly be stated as this: a(n) = fifty 8 + (n - a million)(-12).

Probably the best way to solve this is to plot it on a graph. The pattern appears to cross the x axis at 2, and be -360 at 0. I would therefore suggest it is 180x - 360.

y=x-2 times 180 for each change of 1 in x ,y moves 180. 180+180=360 360+180=540 etc while each step x moves 1. is it clear now? You can e-mail me if you want, I don't hang out here a lot.

assume y = ax^2 +bx +c
Plug in any 3 points
Point1 (3, 180); Point2 (4, 180); Point3 (7,900)
9a+3b+c-180=0
16a+4b+c-360=0
49a+7b+c-900=0
solving for a , b and c we get
a =0 ; b = 180 ; c = -360
y = 180x -360 = 180(x-2)
Answer:
Equation is y = 180 (x-2)

y = 180x - 360
-----
EDIT:
zzz , this section has too many haters.
y = (x - 2) * 180 is the the same as y = 180x - 360
Every time x goes up by 1, y goes up by 180 isn't mathematically expressed.
-----
EDIT: One more important thing.
IT DOESN'T MEAN Y IS THE SUM OF THE INTERIOR ANGLES OF A POLYGON WITH X SIDES. WHAT IF I SAID Y IS THE NUMBER OF FISH CAUGHT OVER THE COURSE OF X YEARS?
