Nothing

2007-12-24 02:32:23 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 8 14

The same thing they have been doing, NOTHING! Not only did the government allow people to steal aid, now they want it back. People who didn't even live in New Orleans and couldn't prove residency. They have done nothing and should continue to. I've been there and have friends who live there and I have lived there before. And they talk about rebuilding? Why? It's a fish bowl. I even visited the neighborhood and home I lived in years ago, very heartbreaking. But maybe it was a lesson. The wealthy neighborhoods where saved because it was designed that way. The middle class and poor neighborhoods where not so fortunate. And the criminals reside in New Orleans own backyard. Guys called Ray Nagin and William Jefferson.

I also feel really bad for other states who get the drug dealing and murdering scum that never made it back to places like B.W. Cooper and C.J. Peete aka Calliope and Magnolia. Luckily they are demolishing these units. But like I said I feel sorry for other states. We have felt some of this residual in Atlanta too.

vtjames7433 is correct too. Also, what little money that was given to go towards keeping the levee system intact was funneled into the pockets of politicians in Louisiana.

One big reason these Katrina "victims" are still victims is that they think like you do......wait for the government to help us, cause we are for damn sure too lazy to help ourselves.
We want hand outs, we want someone to do for us.....pathetic.

The way the denizens of NO were treated over the last what, 30+ years of Liberal Democrat social programs is the real crime. Blanco and Nagin are the real criminals, but petty whining people just like you are the biggest criminals there are, by trying to blame the Feds for something Louisiana should be doing on their own.

Hope you get a lump of coal for Christmas.

1. There is no "criminal Bush Administration"
2. Why do you think that the Government should do *anything* special during "this" Christmas season? Especially *2 years* after the event.
3. If one is actually worried then fund it through private charities who will get the job done *MUCH* better than the government ever can.
4. So my answer would be hopefully the government is doing nothing at all

There are no criminals in the Bush administration. The criminals left the White House in early 2001.
And anyone who has yet to recover from the devastating affects of Katrina is a sorry excuse for a human being.
It's called "get on with your life"!

What are the mayor of New Orleans doing? What about the governor? What are the people doing?

Of the four groups (President, governor, mayor or individual person) the President has the least amount of responsibility for what goes on.

I know a few people from New Orleans. One still doesn't have a job (isn't looking either) and complaining about what the government is doing. Another one, has moved out of LA for good, and has a better job, better life than she had when she lived in NO. But she didn't wait for the government to help her, she went out and did it herself.

You use "criminal" in the same sentence as New Orleans?? Do you have a clue to "how many" of the local politicians robbed the funds designated as relief funds?? The whole infrastructure makes Bush look like St Teressa!!! The US Govt owes them nothing!

He prayed for them, along with many other victims of other natural disasters, shootings, and terrorism before and after Katrina.

All a government should do after this long... It hit August of 2005.

What does the government owe them? Is it Bush's fault that a hurricane struck New Orleans? Look at the Katrina victims in Mississippi and Florida. Do you see them calling for more aid? Look at the city of Greensburg Kansas. Have you heard them calling of ANY aid from the government? It's time for them to stand up and do for themselves. The amouont of aid that came in from private charities is staggering. Maybe, you and they should question the STATE and LOCAL GOVERNMENTS to find out where the money went. I have a hard time feeling sorry for "victims" that took the money that the fed. government gave them for emergency supplies and bought watches, condoms, tatoos, went of Vegas vacations, etc. The only thing that the Katrina disaster proved was that a welfare state will fail. You blame Bush for the lack of help. It was N.O.'s MAYOR that bears the blame for not getting people out of the lower 9th ward. Remember the pictures of the school buses still sitting in the parking lot. Bush declared N.O. a disaster area as soon as the state asked for it. I'm tired of hearing about how the "criminal Bush administration" did nothing for the victims.

ADDITION TO ATOM74
Property taxes are paid to the State and Local governments not the federal government. So the "help" you expect for years of paying property taxes should come from the agency that you paid the taxes to, NOT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

What else is he supposed to do.....Good lord you all are sick. Katrina victims have been sponging off the productive for years now.
The best present to Katrina victims would be to cut off all funds.......It's time for them to take care of themselves. That is much more compassionate than giving them money without requiring any sort of responsibility.

New Orleans before, during, and after Katrina shows just how cruel liberalism is. Without exception, those that suffered the worst, and still suffer today, have never earned a dollar on their own. They are a product of generations of welfare. They had no idea how to take care of themselves........liberalism at it's finest.....This IS the U.S. that Hillary wants.......to stupid to know when you are being fed a line of B.S.

It is time for all federal dollars to be cut off for Katrina victims......in the long run the most compassionate outcome that we can hope for.

They have benefited from billions of dollars from the federal government. The reason they have not rebuilt completely is an issue of state and local incompetence as well as personal incompetence. Rather than picking up the pieces and pulling together as a community they have sought to use this issue for political gain which is sick. Of course the people down there (outside New Orleans anyway) know the truth which is why they have a NEW governor, a republican who won overwhelmingly this fall. Americans used to roll up their sleeves and get $h1t done but far too many people these days would rather sit and whine about not getting a freebie.
Did you know that the Army Corp of Engineers was told back in the late 90s that the base of the levy wasn't solid enough and told the contractor it was fine though he insisted??? I dont remember Bush being president then.
